On board Computer is the need of the hour for the transportation industry to enable ITS(Intelligent Transport System). As per the given specification, the OBC should control all theelectronics on board and flexible enough to adapt the new systems in future. It needs tocooperate with the existing on‐board systems like Destination boards & PA/PI systems. In addition to this, every STU would like to implement their version of functiona requirement/ Business logic (Application software).
The underlined statement here is, the proposed system (OBC) should be an open platform. It should act as flexible data concentrator & communicator with rich wired & wireless communication features like USB, Serial, Ethernet, CAN, Digital I/O & Wi Fi, Bluetooth, GSM/GPRS/HSDPA. It should be flexible enough to change and add business logic (Application software) on the go with ease of plug and play.
